BOKO HARAM;READ NEW ABUBAKAR SHEKAU VIDEO TRANSCRIPT AND WHAT THE ARMY HAS TO SAY.

The Nigerian Army, has urged Nigerians, especially residents of Maiduguri, Kano, Kaduna and Zaria, not to panic over a video purportedly posted by a factional leader of the Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau.

The army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, while reacting to the video in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, said the army had more than what “it takes to defend them and deal decisively with the remnants of the terrorists”.

Usman recalled that Shekau, “in his usual act of boasting, made all sorts of claims to the point of threatening various towns, groups and individuals.”

In the video, Shekau had denied that he was killed or badly wounded, as claimed by the army in August.

The army spokesman said:

Crisis looms in Nigeria’s ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC), as a National Leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is calling for the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun.

Tinubu’s call was in connection with the just concluded governorship primaries in Ondo state.

Recall that there was crisis in the Ondo state’s chapter of the APC in the run up to the primaries as some members alleged that Tinubu was planning to impose his candidate on them.

Malaysia today Wednesday 7th of September confirmed its first case of the Zika virus in a pregnant woman, a 27-year-old living in a southern city next to the city-state of Singapore.

Zika infections in pregnant women have been shown to cause microcephaly, a severe birth defect in which the head and brain are undersized, besides other brain abnormalities.

Health Minister Subramaniam Sathasivam said the woman, who is three- to four-months pregnant, lives in the southern city of Johor Bahru, next to Singapore which has reported a total of 275 cases so far.
