This week I am bringing you a very beautiful muslimah from my school...yass!,I told you I have pretty girls in my school from when I featured Vanessa but some of you were hating(you know yourselves..lool).I call this Ramadan special by the way and I must say I had a nice time interviewing her,enough of the intro,let us meet this week's stylish muslimah.
DEFINE FASHION IN YOUR OWN WORDS?: Fashion generally is the mode of dressing in a particular time, and for a particular purpose.But in my own words fashion is a distinctive trend in the style in which a person dresses in a modest way.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?: I'll say comfy and modest,because I wear clothes I feel very comfortable in and I always ensure that it is modest,and I think am always ready to break fashion rules atimes.
The ideology about my personal style is derived from the popular designer YSL's quote he said "I always believed that style was more important than fashion,those who impose their style are so rare while fashion makers are so numerous".
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?: Wine,and all bright colors except red,so I cant say I have a favorite one precisely.
WHAT IS YOUR VIEW ABOUT THE STEREOTYPED WAY PEOPLE THINK A MUSLIM GIRL SHOULD DRESS?: The way all muslim females should dress has already been addressed in the Quran,one of these verses Suratul Al-Azhab verse 59.A muslim girl or woman should dress in such a way that wont cause fitnah(temptation) to the opposite sex,as the world we are in now is full of a lot of vices and atrocities...rape included.A muslim female should dress beautifully and of course be fashion conscious but at the same time the injunction of the holy Quran and Hadith must be followed.
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGNER?,INTERNATIONAL AND AFRICAN.: International will be Yves Saint Laurent(YSL),and African Deola Sagoe.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FASHION ACCESSORY?: Wristwatch,and if scarves can be classified as an accessory,then scarves 100%!.
HAVE YOU EVER HAD A WARDROBE MALFUNCTION?: Yesss...there was this fateful day when I was in 200level,I wore a palazzo,only for me to get to the bank and discovered from stares that I was actually wearing the front to the back,the zip which was meant to be at the back was at the front.
WHICH CITY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU LOVE TO VISIT AND WHY,: The place I have in mind is Saudi Arabia,and it is to perform the holy pilgrimage which is one of the pillars of Islam.
WHAT IS THAT FASHION TREND YOU ARE PRESENTLY DIGGING?: Kimono.
A FASHION TREND YOU DON'T LIKE: Ripped jeans,I don't like it a bit.
DO YOU HAVE A FASHION ICON?: YES,Habiba Da Silva.
WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO MUSLIM GIRLS WHO THINK THEY CANT BE DEVOTED MUSLIMAHS AND BE FASHIONISTAS AT THE SAME TIME: Islam is a wonderful religion with do's and dont's,be it an hijabite ora scarfite,dressing is very important as dressing alone make some people like you and also look up to you,one can wear anything since its not against the Rule of Allah and the holy prophet,and don't ever get intimidated by what anybody wears,rather rock whatever you have with contentment and confidence!.
YOUR FUN QUESTION...SO WHAT WOULD YOU DO BETWEEN GOING INTO AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE OR ELOPING WITH THE PERSON YOU REALLY LOVE: heee very funny,but I will elope with the person I really love and we can always come back after a while,but going into an arranged marriage without a prior knowledge is like toying with one of the most important decisions in my life,which once I get it wrong it can never be right again.
